Corey Taylor is the outstanding lead vocalist for both Slipknot and Stone Sour, which you probably already know. What you may not know is that he is also a best selling author. His book "Seven Deadly Sins" is equal parts autobiography, social commentary, and self-help book. Mr. Taylor spent the first 30 minutes of tonight's show doing his best Henry Rollinsesque stand-up/spoken-word/book-reading, demonstrating that his word-smithing abilities are not limited to his incredible lyrics. The man with the golden voice and commanding stage presence held the sold out Baltimore Soundstage crowd in the palm of his hand using only a microphone and his wits, plus the odd dick joke. The next 30 minutes were a Q&A session where the well-informed crowd kept Corey on his toes while continuing to make us laugh and think. Then the music began, which really got the crowd going. For 45 minutes, Corey played guitar and sang primarily Stone Sour songs. The crowd sang along, even bringing Mr. Taylor to tears during Snuff, which he dedicated to Paul Gray.  For the last 45 minutes, Jason Parisi joined on guitar and backing vocals, as the duo covered NIN, U2, Elvis, Tom Petty and Alice In Chains, among others. All in all, it was a special night. A little humor, a little sadness, some WTF and tons of incredible singing. Just in case you were curious if he could really play guitar, Corey played both solos on Comfortably Numb flawlessly.. on an acoustic. The man simply has skills that should be experienced every chance you get.
